Day One: from REIMS to BASTOGNE
Pick-up at your hotel in REIMS
We will drive to Ardennes region following the route of the 82nd. Airborne Division on its way to Bastogne. Passing the Belgian border we will cross the Meuse river that the Fitfh Panzer Army nearly reached in 1944. Bastogne has a lot to see: the Mardasson memorial and the excellent museum will be visited, the "Bois Jacques" was the theater of fierce fighting and today the many fox holes are the silent witnesses of the battle...
Overnight at BASTOGNE
Day Two: BASTOGNE and the ARDENNES forest
Pick-up at your hotel in BASTOGNE
Leaving Bastogne towards north, we will pass the site of Manhay where German tanks of the 2nd SS Division ran into American tanks and paratroopers. We will stop at La Gleize to see the only surviving Kingtiger tank of the Kampfgruppe "Peiper"..
Passing Malmedy we will pay our respect to the memorial of the "massacre of Baugnez" on the crossroad where American prisoners were slaugthered by S.S troops.
At the end of the day we will drive back to REIMS
