The capture of the Vimy ridge was a great victory for the Canadian Corps in April 1917, the battleground is still scarred with shell holes, craters, trenches and tunnels. It is one of the best preserved original WW1 battlefields in Northern France. You will be able to walk in the trenches, cross No man’s land and go to the German lines. The magnificent Canadian monument stands on the top of the hill, the final objective of the Canadian troops in the battle. On certain days it’s also possible to explore the tunnels with one of the Canadian guides. For lunch we will stop at the beautiful Grand’place at Arras then visit the CWGC experience centre. There are numerous sites around Arras from Notre-Dame de Lorette, the poignant Ring of Remembrance to Neuville-Saint-Vaast German cemetery, Monchy-le-Preux Newfoundland memorial, and many others…
