One Day Tour for small group up to 8 people. Visit to Vimy Ridge, trenches and tunnels, Arras, the new CWGC centre...
The tour starts at ARRAS train station at 9.00am. (hotel pick-up at ARRAS is possible as well)
From there we will drive to Vimy ridge to visit the largest Canadian memorial on the Western Front which commemorates nearly 11.000 Canadian soldiers who died in France and have no known grave. The capture of Vimy ridge was a great victory for the Canadian Corps and today it's one of the best preserved World War One battlefields with its preserved trenches, shell holes, mine craters and tunnels. The new visitors centre will be visited and some of the tunnels are open to the public during the season. We will then visit a German cemetery and stop on the "Grand' Place" at ARRAS for lunch.
In the afternoon we will continue to explore the battlefields around Arras and the new CWGC centre: a new and unique attraction that shines a light on the organisation who looks after all the Commonwealth War Cemeteries in the world. After passing the abbey of Mont Saint-Eloi, used as an observation post during the battles of Artois, we will stop to see the ruins of the Ablain Saint-Nazaire then go to Notre Dame de Lorette to visit the memorial and the "Ring of Remembrance" which commemorates the 600.000 soldiers from all nations who lost their lives in Northern France.
The tour finishes at ARRAS station at 5.00-5.30pm.
