The city of AMIENS is a good base to visit the battlefields of the Somme. It's 120km north of PARIS and 100km from LILLE. If you are coming by car the traffic can be dificult on the morning at AMIENS, the best place to park your car is the underground car park at the train station: parking "Perret" or parking "Gare la vallée". Coming by train is easier and faster.
It is easy to come from PARIS by train in order to catch our Somme One Day Tour. Trains are direct and run very frequently from and to AMIENS, you can buy an open ticket on the day and you don't need a seat reservation.
Catch the train "intercités" leaving PARIS-Nord station ("Gare du Nord") at 7.31am
Arrival at AMIENS station at 8.40am where our Somme Day Tour starts at 9.00am.
To return to PARIS trains run every hour, you can catch a direct one or spend time to have a look to AMIENS before you retrun to PARIS.
Catch the train "intercités" leaving AMIENS station at 5.38pm
Arrival at PARIS-Nord at 6.56pm
If you are coming from LILLE for the day:
Catch a train "T.E.R" at LILLE Flandres station at 7.02am
Arrival to AMIENS station at 8.24am

Amiens is very well known for its magnificient gothic Cathedral, one of the largest in France listed UNESCO World Heritage, but also the old town ("quartier Saint Leu"), the Jules Verne's house, the Picardy museum and the "Hortillonages" (garden on the Somme river).
