The Historial, Museum of the Great War, is neither a memorial nor a military museum.

It is a museum which compares the mentalities of the belligerent empires. It shows, through an exceptional collection of over 50,000 artefacts, how the worlds of both soldiers and civilians were shattered by the First World War.
Military artefacts are exhibited in the centre of each room (the rooms are in chronological order). Artefacts from civilian life are exhibited around the rooms.
