Situated on the “Avenue des Australiens” in Mont Saint Quentin, a suburb of Péronne, this original memorial represented an Australian soldier bayoneting the German Eagle. The memorial was destroyed by the German Army in 1941.
The memorial was replaced in 1975 by a statue of an Australian ‘Digger’.
